Janice Kay Criss-Doores

Funeral services for Janice Kay Criss-Doores, 81, Lawrence, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2020 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Janice passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020 at her home.

Janice was born November 28, 1938 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of John J. and Katherine M. (Johnson) Bicknell.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrence.

She was a Word Processor for the Philosophy Department at the University of Kansas until she retired in March of 2000.

She married Gerald “Bob” Criss on October 4, 1957. He preceded her in death May 12, 1986. She later married Robert W. Doores on December 16, 1988 in Topeka. He passed away in 1995.

Survivors include her daughter, Theresa K. Baker, Lawrence; two sons, Gerald Lee Criss, Jr., Eudora, Michael J. Criss, Lawrence; five step children; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her infant brother, John J. Bicknell; and sisters, Kathy Scheley and Margaret Carey.

A visitation will be will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
