Jeffrey Michael Dillon
A graveside service for Jeffrey Michael Dillon, 49, of Lawrence, Kansas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately afterward at Johnny's Tavern in North Lawrence.
Jeff passed away on June 7, 2026, at Sparkling Fountains in Overland Park, Kansas, after a long and courageous battle with Huntington's Disease.
Jeff was born on April 12, 1977, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Larry Davis Dillon and Deborah Leigh (Glover) Dillon.
Though Jeff's life was cut short, he lived it to the fullest. He loved the outdoors and anything with wheels or speed. From an early age, he brought boundless energy and enthusiasm to everything he did. He skateboarded and biked nearly every inch of Douglas County, always looking for his next adventure.
Jeff enjoyed boogie boarding, whether in the waves of Hawaii or behind a boat, and he loved snowboarding in Colorado. Never one to stay on the beaten path, he even found ways to snowboard off rocks along Lawrence Avenue.
Biking was perhaps Jeff's greatest passion. He taught himself to ride a bicycle at age four and was riding a Honda minibike by age six. His urban biking skills became legendary among family and friends. Even two hospital stays failed to dampen his adventurous spirit, they only inspired him to push the limits a little further.
Fishing was another lifelong passion. He caught his first fish in a farm pond and went on to reel in redfish in the Chesapeake Bay and salmon in Alaska. No matter where he was, being near the water with a fishing rod in hand brought him happiness.
Jeff loved KU basketball, good company, and our big family gatherings. Those who knew him will remember his infectious enthusiasm, adventurous spirit, and, most of all, his beautiful smile. In hundreds of family photographs, that smile shines through. As we remember Jeff's life, we are reminded that he had much to smile about and he gave others plenty of reasons to smile as well.
Jeff is survived by his father, Larry Dillon and wife Kathy; his sister, Jennifer (DeWayne) Spiess; and his niece and nephews, Mackenzie Mohl, Bryce Mohl, and Colby Spiess.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Leigh Dillon; his paternal grandparents, Bill Dillon and Connie and Velma (Pine) Skinner; his maternal grandparents, George and Evelyn Glover; and his uncle, Gary Glover.
