Felipe Jesse Jesus Martin Del Campo, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Felipe Jesus “Jesse” Martin del Campo, Jr., 56, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Jesse passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 after a motorcycle accident.

He was born October 21, 1960 in Mexico City, Mexico the son of Jesus “Jesse” Martin del Campo, Sr. and Severina Gauna Martin del Campo.

Jesse and his family owned & operated the La Tropicana Restaurant in North Lawrence for the past 50 years. He was also the operator of Slow Ride Roadhouse in North Lawrence.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Survivors include his mother, Severina Gauna Martin del Campo, Lawrence; his son, Felipe Angelo Martin del Campo, his daughters, Eliana Severina Martin del Campo, Brianna Carroll-Pollard; granddaughter, Audriana Elizabeth Martin del Campo; siblings, Maggie Martin del Campo, Laura Martin del Campo, both of Lawrence, Alma and husband, Enrique Franco, Oceanside, California, Charlie Martin del Campo, Catalina Martin del Campo, Lawrence, Victor, and wife, Plyger Rose Martin del Campo, all of Lawrence; 16 nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Martin del Campo, Sr. on April 9, 2010.

The family will greet friends from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Jesse del Campo Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
