Joan Martin

Graveside services for Joan Martin, 90, Lawrence, will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Friday, April 22, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at her home.

Joan was on July 10, 1931 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Sylvester and Ruth (Bradshaw) Hagan.

She was a member of the Lawrence Art Association and Senior Ladies Club with enjoyed many social outings.

She was an artist and teacher held many awards for her paintings. She also was a co-author of her book “Just Joan”.

Survivors include her son, Steven E. Nelson and wife, Denise, Lawrence; daughter, Jonell Mitchell, Lawrence; and two grandchildren, Werner L. Nelson, Omaha, NE, Erin Mitchell, Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, and many relatives.

The family will greet friends at 11:00 a.m. an hour prior to the service at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
