Joanne Vogt

Funeral services for Joanne Jones Vogt, 75, of Lawrence, KS will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery Columbarium in Lawrence.  She died on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on May 22, 1935 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Dr. H. Penfield and Frances Foulkes Jones. She grew up in Lawrence, graduated from Lawrence High School and attended one year at Kansas University.

Ms. Vogt worked as a receptionist for the medical practice of Jones, Manahan & Reese for 27 years.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and was an avid bowler and a member of several bowling leagues.

She was married to Modena “Moe” Vogt on August 4, 1997 in Lawrence.  He survives of the Eudora Medicalodges.

Other survivors include a daughter, Renee Goolsby, of Gardner, KS, two sons; Billy Joe and wife, Mona Lisa Biberstein, Jr., of Corpus Christi, TX, George Penfield and wife, Jean Biberstein, of Avon Park, FL, a sister, Barbara McCrary, of Lawrence, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the LMH Endowment Association for the Penny Jones Memorial Golf Tournament or to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
