Jon B. Ardahl, 84, Lecompton, KS, will lie in state from 1 – 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence and you can pay your respects during this time. A private family service will be held with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Jon passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, KS.
Jon was born on November 11, 1937 in Detroit, MI, the son of Heinar and Sadie Ardahl. Jon has lived in Lecompton, KS for 22 years after moving from Overland Park, KS.
Jon was a Navy Seabee Veteran. Jon was a licensed Structural Engineer with Black and Veatch for 35 years and fully retired in 2003.
Jon was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Lawrence, and a 40-year member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in Kansas. Jon was a member of many concrete organizations including ACI-MO and ACI-KS just to name a couple. Jon loved model railroading, working with train layouts, and was a member of the Lawrence Model Railroad Club.
Jon married Judy Kay Meuffels on June 1, 1974 in Prairie Village, KS. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1999. Jon has been a widower for 22 years.
Anyone who knew Jon could not forget his infectious passion for his committee work and his no- nonsense view of the world. Jon was a beloved grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Jon is survived by his brother, Neal Ardahl and sister-in-law, Betty of Flint, MI; daughter, Sherry Worthington, of Eudora, KS; son, Jay Ardahl and daughter-in-law, Lois of Overbrook; Jon also has five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jon’s name to the Jon B. Ardahl Memorial Fund at the KU Endowment Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
