Jose Eduardo Romero

Jose E. Romero, aged 62, of Lawrence, KS, passed away on June 20, 2025. Born on April 9, 1963, Jose was known for his thoughtful and generous spirit, and he was a proud and loving father, a fun uncle, an amazing brother, and a great friend. 

Jose completed his higher education at Universidad de Puebla, which was a foundation for his various contributions to his community. He was deeply involved in volunteering, dedicating much of his time to local organizations such as Somos Lawrence and the Ballard Center. He also cherished spending quality time with his daughter, Sofia, and his wide circle of friends. 

Jose is survived by his daughter, Sofia; his mother, Aurora; siblings Mariaelena, Lidia, Laura, Miguel, and Gustavo; as well as nieces and nephews Viridiana, Alexis, Sharon, Bryant, Sidney, and Victoria. He also leaves behind multiple extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Jose was preceded in death by his father, Ezequiel Romero. 

A service to celebrate Jose's life will be held at 6:00 PM on June 27, 2025, at Warren-McElwain. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jose's memory to Somos Lawrence/Ballard Center or Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Lawrence, reflecting his lifelong commitment to community support and development.
