Memorial services for Joy Lee Foster, 83, Highlands Ranch, CO, formerly of Lawrence will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Burial was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, KS. She died on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Porter Hospice Residence in Centennial, CO.

Joy was born on September 9, 1929 in Richland MO, the youngest of six children of Clyde Lee and Fatima Ruth (Greeley) Clark.

Joy was married to David M. Foster on October 4, 1952 in Alton, IL. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2005.

Joy worked for many years as a Registered Nurse and loved caring for newborn children in OB units in various hospitals in several states. But Joy’s main focus in life was partnering together in ministry with her husband David (a former Bishop for 12 years in the Free Methodist Church, senior pastor of six churches in various states, including the Lawrence Free Methodist Church) during most of their 52 years of marriage. Joy continued serving others after David’s death and volunteered in the Lawrence community with MOPS and the Pregnancy Care Center of Lawrence.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Litton, and husband Randy, LaDon Birk, Littleton, CO, Coleen Jeffery, and husband Dennis, Lakewood, CO; one son, David A. Foster, and wife, Joy, Athens, MI; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Lorel Clark, Belridge, MO.

The family will receive friends after the service Friday at the church.

The family suggests memorials in Joy’s name to “Friends of Hope Africa University”, P.O. Box 580, Spring Arbor, MI 49283 and may be sent to the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
