Judy had a servant’s heart, and she worked in various roles in healthcare throughout her working years.  She started at Lawrence Memorial in the early 70’s and worked there as a CNA for several years.  Her next role in healthcare was at Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) as a home health aide.  After many years of serving out in the field, she transitioned to an inside job as an administrative assistant.  In total, she served for 19 years at Visiting Nurses Association.  She was a caregiver at heart and loved helping others both in her professional and in her personal life.

She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS, and enjoyed attending church, volunteering, and participating in ladies Bible study.  Judy loved vegetable gardening and canning as well as planting flowers and thoroughly adored spending hours gardening beside Gene.  Her other passion was Jayhawk basketball, and she was very dedicated to faithfully watching all their games and enthusiastically cheering them on.  Judy took the role of grandma seriously and wanted to soak up as much time as possible with her grandchildren.  She was a proud grandparent who loved attending the activities her grandkids participated in.

She married Laymond Eugene “Gene” Percival on June 8, 1971, in Lawrence, KS.  He preceded her in death on October 1, 2011.  They began their life in Eudora, KS and then moved to Lawrence and spent many happy years together.  Judy fought a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and in 2021 she was blessed to move into Star Living where she was not a resident but a cherished family member and was known as “Momma” to those who loved and cared for her there.

Survivors include one daughter, Ida Johnson, and husband Brad, Lawrence, two grandchildren, Gabe and Kyla Johnson and one sister, Floria Smith, Commerce City, CO.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Butch Faulkner.
