Kathleen Ann Wiggins Mcgee

Kathleen Ann was born December 8, 1953, in Independence, Kansas, to A. Jack and Georgia (Montgomery) Wiggins. She graduated from Independence High School in 1972. She attended Coffeyville Community College.

In 1974 she married David McGee; they later divorced. Kathy and her children, Brian and Sarah, moved to Lawrence in 1993. Kathy worked as a phlebotomist for Lawrence Memorial Hospital, The Midwest Research Institute as well as Smith-Klein-Beecham. She also worked at Presbyterian Manor and Brandon Woods. She retired to care for her mother, which she did until Georgia’s passing in December 2021.

Kathy was a guitarist and songwrite, artist, loved to go fishing and was a lover of animals. Her fur babies were her treasured companions.

Kathleen is survived by her son Brian McGee (Gardner, KS), her daughter Sarah McGee (Waterford, Ireland), her sister Patti Poe (Lawrence), her nephew Aaron Mersmann and his wife Molly McFerren Winters (Lawrence), step sisters Nancy Thomas (Olathe) and Judy Grotenhuis.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and her nephew Adam Mersmann.

Cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lawrence Humane Society are welcomed and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
