Lavaughn Miller

Funeral services for J. LaVaughn Miller, 84, Lawrence, KS will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Warren McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She died on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on March 28, 1925 in Andover, Illinois, the daughter of Arnold and Irene Hultgren Fair. She lived for many years with her husband and family in Moline, IL. She moved to Lawrence in the fall of 2005.

Mrs. Miller formerly worked in the City Clerk’s Office in Moline, IL. Prior to that, she had worked for Montgomery Elevator Company in Moline.

She was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church in Moline. She had also formerly attended two years of Business College.

She was married to Vernon J. Miller on October 10, 1948 in Andover, IL. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2008.

Survivors include two sons; Tom and wife, Terri Olson Miller, of Seattle, WA, Jim Miller and wife, Martha Tucci, of Lawrence, a brother, John Fair, of Racine, WI, a sister, Lorraine Sanford, of Bella Vista, AR, and seven grandchildren (Andy, Charlie, Jackie, Emily, Grant, Lucca & Michelle).

The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time, the day of the service.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the Bethel Methodist Church in Moline or to Save the Children and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
