Lawrence was born August 23, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Otha and Florence (Merritt) Hatfield.
Lawrence married Ruth E. Streeter on October 23, 1961, in Miami, OK, and she survives at home.
Other survivors include his children, Tanya (Rowan) Green of Perry, KS, Victoria (Tony) Roush of Lawrence, KS, Gretchen B. Hatfield of Topeka, KS, Lawrence W. Hatfield Jr., of Phoenix, AZ, four grandchildren, Robert (Aftan) Jameson, Samantha Hays, Jonathan Hays, Jove Mortenson, three great-granddaughters, Stella, Murphy, and Maia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John Hatfield.
The family suggests memorials in Lawrence’s name to The Parkinson Foundation or The National Kidney Foundation and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 W. 13th St. Lawrence, KS 66044.
