In honor of our celebration of life. Larry was a huge Notre Dame fan and, in his honor, the family is encouraging you to wear your favorite Notre Dame apparel or colors. Navy blue, gold, or Irish green.
Larry grew up in Vermillion, SD where he was surrounded by amazing friends and family. You could catch Larry out playing adult softball leagues and embracing watching every sporting event out there. Larry moved to the Kansas City area and was a maintenance supervisor for his career until he retired in 2019. He was known as the ultimate man of all trades and never turned down the opportunity to make a project happen. He took pride in all his work and was truly a man known for getting things done right the first time.
One of the things Larry brought to our family was called water tower hopping. We would drive the country roads until you would see a water tower and then pull in at the local tavern.
Larry was also known as the man who could break a room of silence with the crack of a joke, his one liners and his out of the blue toast. He had a smile that never faded. He welcomed everyone with an open heart and knew how to turn any moment positive. He was a man of so many words and was always humming or whistling to a tune.
Larry spent a lot of his time attending his grandkids sporting events and was known for having snacks in his pockets.
Guinness his charcoal lab was his sidekick and they went everywhere together.
Larry was the ultimate dad and grandpa and enjoyed getting the family together by going out on the boat fishing or camping at many different lakes around the area.
Larry enjoyed smoking BBQ with the family and was always up for finding the next restaurant to try out. He enjoyed spending afternoons playing cards, attending Royals games or enjoying a round of golf. He had a passion for the Cincinnati Reds, KU basketball, Notre Dame, & Raiders football.
A few items on Larry’s bucket list was to travel to as many MLB stadiums and to go to a Notre Dame football game which he was able to accomplish in November of 2019.
Our family toast to him: Until we meet again
“We think about you always. We talk about you still. You have never been forgotten, and you never will. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain. To walk and guide us through our lives until we meet again.”
