Funeral services for Laymond “Gene” Percival, 77, Lawrence will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. He died October 1, 2011 at his home.
He was born on May 19, 1934 in Lone Star, KS the son of Melvin R. and Tilda C. Campbell Percival.
He grew up in rural Douglas County and attended grade school in Washington Creek area and high school in Overbrook.
Gene worked as a self employed farmer, truck driver and mechanic.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed church and spending time with his family.
He married Judy Faulkner on June 8, 1971 in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Ida Johnson, and husband Brad, Lawrence, DeAnna Gatrel, Issaquah, WA; four grandchildren, Gabe and Kyla Johnson, Trey and Zach Gatrel; and one brother, Ivan Percival, Lawrence.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
