Leo Feist

Mass of Christian burial for Leo Feist, 82, Lawrence, KS will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center in Lawrence.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence, KS.  Mr. Feist died on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence.

Mr. Feist was born on February 22, 1928, in Strasburg, ND, the son of Michael J. and Martha Dorscher Feist.  He had lived in Lawrence for 50 years.  He was a machinist and electrician for E & E Specialties and retired in 1991 after many years of service. In 1960, he opened and managed the 2nd pizza establishment to locate in Lawrence, KS.  Mr. Feist was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center in Lawrence, KS.

He married Dorothy L. Lipp on November 3, 1949, in Strasburg, ND.  She preceded him in death November 13, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Joan Feist, Pflugerville, TX, and Janice D. Hurst and husband, Jay, Lawrence, KS; one son, Arthur Feist and wife, Debbie, Lawrence, KS; six brothers, Peter C. Feist, St. Paul, MN, Joe Feist, Billings, MT, Richard Feist, Andover, MN, John Feist, Denver, CO, Adam Feist, Denver, CO, and Conrad Feist, Denver, CO; two sisters, Theresa Reinbolt, Strasburg, ND, and Katherine Nagel, Linton, ND; 6 grandchildren, Annette, Kevin, Jeremiah, Neil, Jennifer, and Erin and 4 great grandchildren, Geoffrey, Angela, Paige, and Brayden.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Kevin Rothwell.

Mr. Feist will lie in state from noon – 9:00 p.m. on Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials in his name to the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center or Sunshine Group at Baptist Temple and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
