Lila Mae Layton, 94, Lawrence, died February 1, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. No services are planned.
She was born on February 10, 1914 in Ottomwa, IA, the daughter of Lesley Fry and Love M. (Gudgell) Copeland.
She owned and operated two bars, the Purple Pig and Pink Elephant.
She married John Miller. They divorced in 1944. She married Charles Kite. He preceded her in death in 1960. She later married Wesley H. Layton on July 1, 1961 in Ottawa, KS. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include one daughter, Shirley Rae Perdue, husband, Burton, Perry, KS; a step-daughter, Ruth Kite, Lawrence; a step-son, Charles Kite,Vallejo, CA, daughter-in-law, Tracy Kite, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Sandra Sailer, husband, Bill, Dallas, TX; Jim Perdue, Oskaloosa, KS, Kris and Jesse Kite, Lawrence, KS; four step-grandchildren, Audrey, Melissa, Michael, Richard; three great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick and Michael.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
