Funeral services for Lillian Marie Olson, 86, Lawrence, KS will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS.  Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum in Lawrence.  She died on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on February 11, 1925 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Glen and Amy Joy Ellis. She had lived in Lawrence since 1940.

Lillian was a retired waitress and had worked at the Mission Inn, Duckwall’s, Raney Drugs and Dairy Queen.  She retired in 1975.

She was married to Arthur J. Olson on May 7, 1955 in Lawrence, KS.  He preceded her in death on November 14, 2003.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Stevens, of Baldwin City, KS; Peggy Hooper and husband Jim, of Lawrence, KS, and their children Sheila and Stephanie; Donna Handel and husband Gary, of Reeds Spring, MO, and their children, Bob, John, and Jen; a brother, Kenneth Janeway, of Texas; ten great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters and a great grandson

The family will receive family and friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the American Cancer Society, and they may be sent in care of the mortuary.
