LoRee Beeler, 93, Wichita, KS, formerly of Lawrence passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023, surrounded by family and those who cared for her at Park West Plaza in Wichita.
LoRee was born on November 22, 1929, in Great Bend, KS, the daughter of Wilbur and Nina (Sipes) Almquist. She was a trailblazer, learning to fly airplanes before she was old enough to have a driver’s license, and earning degrees from both the University of Colorado and Denver University. She married William Beeler on June 19, 1958, in Great Bend, KS. He proceeded her in death.
LoRee was adventurous, independent, and always ready to support her family. Though cooking was never her forte, she could make the best pies. She also loved traveling and in later years enjoyed playing with her great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Nina Marie (Doug) Fowler; son, Burke Beeler, grandchildren, Megan (Frank) Fowler-Waugh, Matthew (Amanda) Fowler, Quincy Beeler, great-grandchildren, Gavin, Carter, and Adeline.
LoRee was also preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services for LoRee will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 14, 2023, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials in LoRee’s name to First United Methodist Church-Good Fellowship Circle and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
