Private family services for Lyle Darrell Stice, 86, Lawrence, will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. Lyle passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at his home.
Lyle was born on December 17, 1934 in Oswego, Kansas the son of Ralph and Leona (McKnight) Stice.
He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. After serving, he became the editor of the Chetopa Advance in Chetopa KS. In 1963 he and his family moved to Lawrence and he was employed by the University of Kansas Printing Service for 30 years until his retirement in 1993.
He married Gerry J. Sanders on January 22, 1956 in Oswego, KS. She survives of the home. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Other survivors include his son, Danny Stice (Tina) Lawrence; three daughters, Niki Probst (Ron) Torrington, WY, Lisa Stice and Jamie Cole both of Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Shelby Pringle (Jared), Jason Cooper, Zach Cooper, Leah Roehrs (Ben), Austin Holladay, Brett Cole, Taylor Cole, and four great-grandchildren; his sister, Wilma Allison, Altamont, KS; three brothers, Wayne Stice, Colorado Springs, CO, Larry Stice, Carl Junction, MO, Norman Stice, Parsons, KS; He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Bonnie Jean Hurst and his brother, Ralph “Bud” Stice Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lyle’s name to The American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
