Mae Gee

A private Celebration of Life will be held in Oakland, California for Mae Lew Gee, 93, Lawrence, Kansas.  She died on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at her home, surrounded by family.  Private inurnment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA.

She was born on May 15, 1916 in Oakland, CA, the daughter of Hawk Yee and Kong Fee Kung Lew.  She spent many years of her early life in Canton, China.  She moved to Lawrence, KS in 2004 from San Lorenzo, CA.

For many years, she and her family had a dry cleaning business in the Bay Area.

She was married to Vincent Gee and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include: a daughter, Yvonne Wong and husband, Vincent Wong, of Castro Valley, CA, three sons; Norman and wife, Helen Gee, of Lawrence, KS, Victor Gee and wife, Rhonda Hirata, of Oakland, CA, Jerry Gee, of San Leandro, CA, a brother, Tom Lew, of Fremont, CA, three sisters; Jennie Mah, of San Leandro, CA, Annie Wong, of San Francisco, CA, Nancy Mar, of San Leandro, CA, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care (200 Maine Street, Lawrence, KS 66044) and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
