Memorial service for Margaret “Sue” Schmidt, 68, of Lawrence will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at First United Methodist Church – West Campus. Margaret died December 2, 2011 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
Sue was born on February 27, 1943, in Bartlesville, Okla., the daughter of Jesse and Gena (Chichester) Salisbury.
She was a secondary school teacher in biology and physical science for Holmes High School in San Antonio, Texas, for 24 years. She received an M.P.H. from the University of Texas Health Science Center and an M.S. from Avila College.
A faithful believer her whole life, she served as an elder for Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in Helotes, Texas. She was an active member of Oxford United Methodist Church in San Antonio and the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville. She attended the West Campus First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.
Survivors include daughters, Christin Williams of Katy, Texas, and Carol Nichol (husband, Keith), of Pflugerville, Texas; sister, Karen Salisbury Henry (husband, Gary) of Lawrence; brother, Thomas Salisbury (wife, Ellen), of San Carlos, Calif.; two granddaughters, Grace Williams and Charlotte Bailey, and niece, Liz Walsh (husband, Rob), of San Mateo, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabeth Salisbury, and son, Stephen Schmidt.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Lewy Body Dementia Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
