Marie Woods

Funeral services for Marie Louise Woods, 91, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.  She died on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor.

Louise was born on November 1, 1921 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Elmer Leroy and Martha Elizabeth (Lynch) Horseman.

She attended Kansas City Kansas Junior Community College.

She was a homemaker.

She was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence, and a former member of Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka. She was also a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, No Name Club, Sweet Adelines, and the Kansas Historical Society – Women’s Kansas Day Club.

Louise was married to Clyde Woods, Jr. on September 4, 1942 in Kansas City, KS.  He preceded her in death January 17, 2013.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Larsen, and husband, Erik; Lawrence; two grandchildren, Kelly Meier, and husband, Ryan, Rachel Rake; and four great grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in her name to First United Methodist Church or  Heartspring Children’s Institute and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
