Mass of Christian burial for Marion Frances Boyle, 98, Denver, CO and former longtime resident of Lawrence, will be at 11:00 a.m. on June 1, 2024 at St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center.  Private inurnment will be in Pioneer Cemetery.

Ms. Boyle died peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at her residence in Denver, Colorado where she lived for the past eighteen months.   She was born December 30, 1925, in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of H. Everett and Marion Mullen Brown.  She graduated from Nottingham High School in Syracuse and received a bachelor’s degree from the College of Business Administration and the School of Education at Syracuse University.  She later obtained her Master’s in Education from the University of Kansas.

Ms. Boyle married Alexander L. Boyle on June 26, 1948, in Syracuse, NY and together they moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1953 when her husband joined the design department at the University of Kansas.  She was an instructor at Lawrence High School, Haskell Indian Nations University, and retired in 1993 from the University of Kansas as the Associate Director and Project Counselor and Coordinator in the department of Student Services and Support.

During her time in Lawrence, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Corpus Christi Catholic Church and St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center.  She was active in her church communities, especially St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center where she and her husband were devoted members from the inception of the Campus Center and the building of  the campus ministry.  She was a member of the University Women’s Club, LINK, a Heart Associate Volunteer and served on many committees over the course of her career.  After retirement in 1993, she worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block and enjoyed traveling the country and Europe with her husband, who predeceased her in 2006.  She was an avid bridge player and played regularly until a few years ago.

Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Boyle, Susan Boyle, Eileen Wirth (Greg) and Caroline Wilten (Tom).  Two sons, Christopher Boyle and Kevin Boyle, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister-in-laws Lynn Boyle and Joan Boyle, her brother-in-law Thomas Campbell, and many nieces and nephews.

The family is very grateful for the kindness and care offered to their mother by the Brookdale Parkplace staff and Hospice Health One during her residency in Denver, Colorado.
