Graveside inurnment for Marlon James Lewis, 52, Lawrence, KS will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lawrence.  He died Monday, July 12, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 26, 1957 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Dwane Lewis, Sr. and Lorna Lewis Brown.

Marlon attended Lawrence Public schools as well as some schools in California.  He spent most of his adult life in Lawrence and St. Louis, Missouri.  He owned a steel company while in St. Louis.   At the time of death Mr. Lewis marital status was unknown and through the years of failing heath he became disabled.

Marlon leaves behind his parents, a son Deshon Lewis and his wife Alexia and their children Anya and Deshon, Jr. and a grandson, Drew Lewis, a son Shawn of Lawrence, Nicholas and Djuan Lewis of Fayetteville, North Carolina, a daughter Natasha of Centralia, Illinois, brother, Dwane Lewis II of Lawrence, Michael Lewis of Kansas City, MO; three sisters, Sonnja Blevins of Raytown, Missouri, Stacy Guerriér of Oakland, CA; Shann Cheatem and her husband, John of Iowa, Kathleen Lewis, of Lawrence; nieces, Rachael, Lanai and Rebecca Cheatem of Iowa, Vivian Long; nephews, Andrew Blevins, US Army, Austin and Aydrian Gray of Raytown, MO, Jaamil Maalik-Boyd of KS City, MO, Keon Lewis, Orlando, FL, John Cheatem, Jr., Iowa, Morell Lewis; a very special companion, Cynthia Wingbach of Eudora, KS, her daughter Jodi Able and husband Mark of Overland Park, KS and Alisha Wingebach of Overland Park, KS.  He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Marquis of Lawrence.

At Mr. Lewis request there will be no public viewing of the body and no public reception following the burial.

The family suggests memorials or condolences be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
