Marsha Kay Alexander, age 71, died on May 6th, 2026, at her home of 32 years in Baldwin City, KS.
Marsha was born on November 10th, 1954, in Aurora, CO to Irvin and Myrtle (Michael) Andres.
She lived her life deeply devoted to the two things that mattered most to her - her faith and her family.
Marsha met her beloved husband Paul while they were working together at Rusty’s in Lawrence, KS. She thought Paul didn’t like her when he threw a box at her, but Paul always said, “I would’ve hit you if I didn’t like you.” From there they fell in love, got married on May 6th, 1978, and built a wonderfully chaotic life together while raising 4 boys over nearly five decades of marriage. Last year they celebrated 47 years together, and this year they are celebrating 48 in heaven.
Marsha’s faith showed through in way she cared for others. She served for many years as a Sunday school teacher because of her love for God and children, and that same warmth and kindness carried into every part of her life as a mother, grandma, and friend. After moving to Baldwin, she worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the Math and Science department at Baker University. No matter where she was, Marsha made people feel cared for and welcomed. At home, she found joy tending to her flowers and flourishing garden.
Paul preceded Marsha in death on October 5th, 2025. They have 4 sons: Rodney (Peggie) Jenkins of Topeka, KS, John Jenkins of Auburn, KS, Mark (Anna) Jenkins of Raymore, MO, Craig (Kristi) Alexander of Lawrence, KS, and 12 grandchildren: Acea, Madison, Austin, Hayley, Alexis, Kyleigh, Carson, Conner, Chloe, Caleb, Lily, and Kara.
Marsha was also preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Service will take place at Warren-McElwain Mortuary; 120 W 13th St. Lawrence, KS 66044 on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation starting one hour prior. Graveside to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Donations in Marsha’s memory may be given to Samaritan’s Purse.
