Memorial services for Mary E. Cordaro, 90, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Wesleyan Church in Lawrence. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. She died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born March 27, 1920 in Glenview, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Lillian Volkmann Ensor. She lived for many years in Chicago, IL, St. Louis, MO and moved to Lawrence in 1988 from St. Louis.
She was married to Joseph A. Cordaro on May 30, 1952. He preceded her in death in March 1974.
Survivors include two daughters: Mary Cederstrand of Omaha, NE, Jude McDaniel, of Lawrence, two sons: Jack Kraaz, of Ripon, WI, Stephen Kraaz, of Omaha, NE, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Mary Cordaro was a servant of God. She met the needs of others throughout her lifetime. She cared for the sick and needy, fed the poor and provided counseling for many. Her life is personified by loving and giving to others.
She attended the Lawrence Wesleyan Church and led Bible studies in many places that she lived. She loved to cook, travel, garden, shop and listen to opera.
The family will receive friends at the church from 3 p.m. until service time.
The family suggests memorials in her name to Significant Matters (a people-connecting ministry www.significantmatters.com ) in Olathe, KS, and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
