Mary Jo Burd

Mary Jo Burd passed away peacefully in her home in Eudora, Kansas on January 21, 2021.

Mary Jo was born January 18, 1934 in Strawn, KS the daughter of George Howard Claycamp and Bertha May Claycamp. Mary Jo was the second of four children, Dona May McFerrin, Anna Lee Decker and Nicki Jean Houser.

Mary Jo married Bill Burd, her high school sweetheart in 1951 they made their home together in Emporia, KS. The relocated to Edmond, OK in 1971 to work for Braum’s Ice Cream.

Mary Jo enjoyed family gatherings, collecting tooth pick holders and Hallmark Christmas ornaments, playing cards and barbecue’s in her beautiful backyard.

Mary Jo is preceded in death by her husband,Bill Burd, daughter, Debra Hinds of Linwood, KS, son, Scott Burd of Oklahoma City. Mary Jo leaves behind her daughter, Rhonda Burd of Deleon, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Hinds, Carrie Fewins and her husband, Scott, Joshua Hinds and his wife, Abigail, Gus Burd and 10 great grandchildren.

Mary Jo Burd will be truly missed by many.

Graveside service will be held May 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowman-Adgate Cemetery in Coffey County, KS. A Celebration of Life will follow at Kelly Hall in Burlington, Kansas.
