Mary Irving

Services for Mary L. Irving, 90, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service.

She died May 5, 2013 at her home.

She was born January 5, 1923 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Edgar and Eva (Scott) Watkins.

She worked for many years for the Presbyterian Church in New York City, NY and at the Oklahoma Conference of Churches.

She was a was longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City and actively participated in Presbyterian Women, both in her church and in Indian Nations Presbytery. She also traveled to China as a representative of the church.

Her loving husband Hosea Irving died in 1996 after a lengthy illness, during which she cared for him.

She is survived by two nieces, Sonja (Clarence) Johnson; Barbara (Joseph) Sabol and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Franklin L. Watkins and Arthur V. Watkins.

In keeping with her generous spirit and commitment to this organization, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Presbyterian Women of the Indian Nations Presbytery and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
