Memorial Mass for Mary “Tyke” Carolyn Callicott, 90, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Tyke passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Tyke was born October 10, 1925 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of John Howard and Pearl (Olsen) Landree.
She was a Girl Scout Leader, Meadowlark 4-H Club Project Leader. She was a long time active member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church participating in many church and school functions. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a volunteer for more than 20 years for the Red Cross and served on the Board for 18 years. She also worked Red Cross blood drives.
She worked at Daniel’s Jewelry Store in the 60’s and early 70’s and was a Realtor at McGrew Realty.
She married Kenneth Callicott on January 14, 1948 in Memphis, TN. He preceded her in death February 9, 2014.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Copp and husband, Dennis, Donna Hoffman and husband, Scot, Mary Cherico “Punkin” and husband, Art; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by sister, Ann Jeanette Lawrence Dlugach, and brother, John Howard “Jack” Landree.
Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Tyke loved connecting with all her family and friends on Facebook. She had a loving and kind heart and will be greatly missed.
