Funeral Services for Irma Maxine Dark, 88, Lecompton, will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Lecompton United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Lecompton. She died August 29, 2011 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar in Lawrence.
She was born February 2, 1923 in Lecompton, Kansas the daughter of Starr and Mable Cole Glenn.
Maxine loved to travel and was a member of the Lecompton United Methodist Church and a life member of the Lecompton Historical Society. She was involved with 4-H, a cook at Lecompton elementary for many years and was a wonderful seamstress.
She married Clayton Dark on June 21, 1942, in Lecompton, KS and he preceded her in death in August 1986. She married Ben Bisel in February of 1990 and he preceded her in death in July of 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherri (Craig) Neill and Barbara (Jeff) Haney; two sons, Melvin ( VeNora) Dark and David Dark all of Lecompton; a sister, Ruby Eichman of Lewiston, Idaho; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Eileen Eichman and a brother, Ivan Glenn.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Thursday.
The family suggests memorials in her name to Lecompton Historical Society or to the Lecompton United Methodist Church and maybe sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
