Michael Eugene Glass

Visitation for Michael Eugene Glass, 64, Lawrence, will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence; from 6 to 8 pm.

He passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015, at his home.

He was born February 20, 1950 in Lawrence, KS to Travis Eugene and Jule Bernece (Bell) Glass.

Michael married Catherine “Kitty” Smith on December 12, 1974 in Lawrence, KS.

The couple enjoyed farming together and selling their beef, produce and cut flowers at the Lawrence Farmer’s Market. When Michael wasn’t working he liked to hike in the woods with his dog Buddy, watch KU basketball, listen to music, especially 60’s rock and jazz, and reading, especially history of World War II. His greatest past time was being outside during the fall season, where he could cut fire wood and enjoy his land. He was a great steward of his land.

Husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; Our Rock. We love you and will miss you today, tomorrow and forever.

He is survived by: his wife; Kitty of the home, daughter; Kim Glass and her children, Sammy and Ashton, of Baldwin City, KS, daughter; Ginger Tahsuda, her children, Amanda, Brandy, Veronica, Anthony, and Willy, of Lawrence, great-grandchild; Abby, brother; Stephen and wife Teresa Gorman-Glass, of Lawrence, sister; Julia Maul of Perry, KS, sister; Laura Glass of Lawrence, and nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Lawrence Memorial Hospital – Oncology Unit, or Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
