Michael T. Jones

Services for Michael T. Jones, 77, Lawrence will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the mortuary.

Michael passed away after a long battle from Parkinson disease on August 9, 2025, at Restwell Care facility in Oskaloosa.

He was born June 20, 1948, in Carthage, Missouri the son of Albert M. and Helen R. (Curry) Jones.

The majority of his working career was spent at Hallmark Cards in the facilities department before retiring from there.

Michael loved to collect all sorts of antiques and especially those items related to gas and oil. He was very creative and loved art of all kinds.

Michael married Claudia K. Jones (Cooper) on August 20, 1988. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include sons, Michael A. Jones, Matthew P. Jones, David G. Hooper, Jr., Kevin J. Hooper; daughter Sarah C. Sharon; one brother, Tony Jones; two sisters, Gale Nuese, Patricia (Trish) Cholka; 11 grandchildren, Kayla, Hunter, Kiera, Lucy, Kelsey, Laney, Harlow, Gracie, Hudson, Parker and Leia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason (Jay) Jones; siblings, Lloyd Jones, Alan Jones and Alberta Rhodes.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
