Surrounded by family members, Norbert Grosdidier (91) died peacefully at his home in Eudora, Kansas, Monday, November 6, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 409 E. 8 th , Eudora, Kansas. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
Norbert was born January 18, 1926, son of George and Anna (Feldkamp) Grosdidier. He was a life-long resident of Eudora. Norbert met the love of his life (Margaret) on a blind date while attending Benedictine College in Atchison. After serving two years as a Navy corpsman following WWII, Norbert returned to Eudora. He and Margaret (Schieberl) were married December 27, 1949. In the years that followed, they had eleven children (29 grandchildren) and built a successful dairy farm. In 1991, they sold the dairy cattle and started their years of travel. Norbert also enjoyed attending Eudora sporting events up until his final month. He instilled in his family the importance of faith, family and service. He volunteered his time serving on the Eudora School board for over 25 years, he also spent time serving on the Holy Family Parish Council, Douglas County Planning Commission, Soil Conservation Board and the Rural Water District Board.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret, he is preceded in death by two grandsons, (Daniel Martin and Doug Williams) and a son-in-law Mac Hermreck. He is survived by his eleven children: Mary and Rick Williams, Martha and Walt Mersmann, Barbara Hermreck, Tricia Grosdidier, David and Karla Grosdidier, Mark Grosdidier, and Ann and Mark Katzenmeier from Eudora; Dody and Paul Neis of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Paul and Tarrie Grosdidier of Wamego; Jim and Debbie Grosdidier of Topeka, and Luci and John Kennedy of Paola. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
There will be a Rosary, with visitation following, Friday, November 10, 6:00-8:00p.m at Holy Family Catholic Church, Eudora, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Kansas Honor Flight, St. Theresa’s Society or Holy Family Youth Group.
