Norma L. Schmille

Funeral services for Norma L. Schmille, 81, Lawrence will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday October 23, 2017 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Brandon Woods Assisted Living.

Norma was born March 19, 1936 in Lawrence, KS the daughter of Albert D. and Helen A. (Altenbernd) Wichman.

To those that knew Norma, she had a gift to gab and was an avid KU Fan and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary FOP Lodge #2. The family lived at the Douglas County Fairgrounds for 11 years and were the caretakers there.

She was a homemaker.

She married Wayne Victor Schmille March 17, 1957 in Eudora. He preceded her in death October 28, 1993.

Survivors include her son, Victor L. Schmille (wife, Margie), Eudora; daughter, ViAnn Deathe (husband, Bud), Eudora; five grandchildren, Stephen Schmille, Lacy Gaultney, Lesley Schmille, Dustin Deathe, Sarah Schmille; five great grandchildren, Natalynn Tuckness. Cadence Gaultney, Logan Gaultney, Porter Deathe, and Sawyer Deathe. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dona Mae Wichman.

The family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Great Lakes Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
