Norma Edmiston Corpening Webb was born May 15, 1935, in Emporia, Kansas to Claude and Gettie Edmiston. In 1941 they moved to Americus, KS. Norma graduated from Americus High School in 1953.
In 1955 she married James H. Corpening in Emporia and they lived in Topeka for several years. They later divorced. She married Frank E. Webb in 1964, and they lived on a farm outside Topeka. Norma was a waitress for many years and later worked for Walmart. She later divorced Frank. She moved to Lawrence in 2002.
She is survived by a daughter Deborah Pitts of Osage City, KS and a son, James (Cheri) Corpening of Lawrence and two grandsons, Mike (Val) Pitts of Osage City, Chris (Heather) Pitts of Ottawa, KS; two granddaughters, Kacey Corpening of Lawrence and Karah (Max) Bunker of Topeka, KS; four great-grandsons, Cole Alan Pitts, Kale Pitts, Kase Pitts, Henry Bunker; three great-granddaughters, Peyton Lynn Pitts, Elliana Bonzo and June Bunker. She has seven step-grandchildren, John (Phyllis) Webb, Ron (Theresa) Webb, Don (Sandy) Webb, Debbie (Greg) Stadler, Rita (Larry) Berry, Pam (Wade) Handley, Jim W. (Wendy) Corpening; many step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren.
Normas passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at LMH. No services are planned.
Memorial contributions may be made in Norma’s name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
