Ola Delle Stover Faucher was born April 6, 1949, in Salina, KS. She burst into crimson and blue rays of light and was welcomed into eternity by Phog Allen and James Naismith with the KU fight song on March 28, 2024.
Ola is preceded in death by her mother: Chrystal Cleo Copeman Stover; her father: John Lucas Stover; two half brothers: Dale and Darrell Stover, and her sister: Oma Belle Lacey. Ola leaves behind skeins of bureaucratic red tape that she slashed throughout her lifetime. She also leaves behind her husband of 51 years: Ted Faucher; her daughter and successful school administrator: Lysette DeBoard and her trophy husband: Jeremy DeBoard; son and successful building manager: Andre Faucher and arm-candy wife: Jessica Faucher; and a semi-feral, dirt-worshiping, tree-hugging daughter: Chrystal Hunter and her stud muffin husband: Adam Hunter. Ola also leaves behind six beloved, brilliant, talented, and better than anyone else’s grandchildren and one spit-fire of a great grandchild.
Ola earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from her beloved University of Kansas- whose campus is prettier and better than any other campus. Ola spent 47 years working at KU. She was best known to many through email, university policy changes, and labor negotiations. Ola’s proudest work accomplishments include: migrating KU and the Medical Center to the PeopleSoft system, the introduction of gender-neutral bathrooms, and creating a smoke-free campus. Ola was also a past president of the HEUG Board and retired as the Director of Human Resources in 2019.
Ola enjoyed traveling with friends and family, cheering on KU basketball, watching movies, singing along to rock and roll, and tie-dye. She knew it was time to depart this life when she finally wore out her extended-edition “Lord of the Ring” DVD set. After 74 years of healthy living- including living through the ‘60s drug and alcohol-free, the greatest irony is that she succumbed to lung cancer.
Her funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Westside Presbyterian Church in Lawrence. A 3:30 p.m. burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery for friends and family. In her honor, please feel free to wear either your favorite Jayhawk or tie-dye attire.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to KU Endowment for the benefit of KU. Please enter “School of Public Affairs & Administration Scholarship (07859)” as the area and “Ola Faucher” as the person who is being memorialized. To give online, visit kuendowment.org/memorials .
