The funeral service for Patricia A. “Patty” Hadl, 64, Lawrence, KS will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. She died on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born on December 20, 1945 in Lawrence, KS.
She attended schools in Texas before returning to Lawrence in 1963.
Patty was a client at Cottonwood Inc., since its inception. She worked various jobs, but most recently worked at HyVee on West 6th Street. She was an avid K.U. fan and loved to travel with the Parks and Recreation Department. She was a participant in Special Olympics. Some of her favorite pastimes were bowling, fishing, collecting paper weights and miniature cars. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, Bill and Betty Bunce of rural Linwood, KS, her father, Bob Hadl of Aurora, MO, four sisters; Connie Kamp and husband, Roy of Baldwin City, KS, Lynn Heiserman and husband, Gary of Lawrence, Shelly Thornton and husband, Larry of Lawrence, Kathie Butler and husband, Wayne of Mesquite, TX, two brothers; Mike Miller and wife, Janice of The Colony, TX and Dale Bunce and wife, Julie of Ottawa, KS. Other survivors include 41 nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Beth Skinner.
The family suggests memorials in her name to Cottonwood, Inc., or to the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family will greet friends from 6-7:30 Monday evening at the mortuary.
