Lawrence

Patricia Ann Baker, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on November 13, 2025 in Lawrence, Kansas at the age of 86. She was born on April 20, 1939 in Herington, Kansas and was the daughter of John and Linea Riggin of Burdick, Kansas.

In 1959, Pat married CJ Baker, who preceded her in death on August 19, 2025, just 11 days short of their 66th anniversary. Pat and CJ were the proud parents of three children and family meant everything to them. In addition to being a wonderful, loving mother, Pat also worked as a medical technician in Herington until 1978, when the family moved to Salina, KS. In Salina, Pat worked as a lab technician at Mowrey Clinic for the next 20 years. After retiring, Pat and CJ moved to Lawrence, Kansas to be closer to family. During her time in Lawrence, her family grew to include the friends of her kids as well. Pat’s delicious cooking and gentle, loving spirit will be greatly missed by this “extended family.”

Pat had a special calling as a caregiver and was the “mama bird” to so many people. She had a very strong faith and her genuine heart was evident to everyone she met along life’s journey. Pat was a dedicated volunteer for many organizations, including Meals On Wheels, Family Promise, the Salvation Army and Jubilee Café. She was always willing to help those in need. Her hobbies included quilting, dancing, snow skiing and baking. Most of all, Pat found great joy in serving the Lord.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved CJ.

She is survived by her brothers, Bob Riggin and Jack (Nancy) Riggin, her daughter Kim (Tom) Liebl, sons Doug (Pam) Baker and Marc (Lynne) Baker. Grandma Pat will be lovingly remembered by eight grandchildren – Brecken (Michael Valverde) Liebl, Parker (Tiane DeVore) Liebl, McKenzie Liebl, Chad Baker, Tailor (Nick) Crittenden, Levi (Alex) Baker, Riggin Baker, Cole Baker, as well as great grandchildren – Rigby Armstrong, Ryker and Hadleigh Crittenden, Lynnlee and Casen Baker, Jack and Avery Baker and Lincoln Liebl.

Pat’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Star Living and Interim Hospice for their loving care and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held on November 22, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Herington Community Building, 810 S. Broadway, Herington, KS.
