Patty L. Huntzinger, 77, of Mission, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2026, at her home.
Patty was born on December 23, 1948, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Oy and Lucille Basler.
On February 2, 1974, she married Tom Huntzinger. They shared 43 years of marriage before his passing in 2017.
She is survived by her daughters, Amber (Jeff) Randel and Erin (Mike) Oliva, both of Mission, Kansas; her brothers, Bob (Diane) Basler, Jerry (Christina) Basler, and Dan (Teresa) Basler; five grandchildren, Anna, Samantha, Alexander, Lucy, and Lanie; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Patty grew up in Leedey, a small town in western Oklahoma. After welcoming their twin daughters, she and Tom lived in Choctaw, Oklahoma, and briefly in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before settling in Lawrence, Kansas, where they made their home for more than 30 years. Patty devoted those early years to raising her daughters. She planned their birthday parties, helped lead their Girl Scout troop, and was involved in countless 4-H projects.
She later joined Commerce Bank, where she worked for many years. In retirement, Patty enjoyed spending time babysitting her first grandchild, sailing Clinton Lake with Tom on his sailboat, and reading. She cared for many rescue cats who became part of her life over the years.
In recent years, Patty lived near her daughters in Mission, Kansas, where she treasured time with her grandchildren and took great pride in each of them.
The family plans to honor Patty’s life privately at a later date.
Donations may be made in Patty’s name to the Lawrence Humane Society or the Kansas City Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
