Private graveside services for Phillip (Phil) Renick, 62 Lawrence will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. He died suddenly on Friday, November 27, 2020 at his home.
He was born on November 5,1958 in Lawrence, KS the son of Edward James and Ruth Christine Renick. Phillip was a life-long resident of Lawrence.
He graduated from Lawrence High School in1977. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army achieving the rank of Sargent E-5 and spending a fair share of time in Germany before ending his military career in 1981. He enjoyed his lifetime work as a truck driver making friends of anyone and everyone he met on the road. He most recently worked for Waste Management in Kansas City.
Phil’s main passion was drag racing with High Adventure Racing under the sanctioning body of “National Hot Rod Association” in the Super Stock eliminator class. He was a class champion at several races where he competed. His racing allowed him to compete at several tracks throughout the Midwest during his racing career.
He also spent many afternoons on the golf course, always having a great time no matter who his playing partners were or where his ball ended up.
Phillip is survived by his father, Edward James Renick, brothers, Bill Renick (Deb), Murray Renick (Cris), sister, Debra Hull (Frank) and his many nieces and nephews that he enjoyed spending time with whenever possible.
A celebration of life gathering will be held for extended family and his many friends at a later date. A time and location will be announced on Facebook.
