Phillip R. Davis

Funeral services for Phillip R. Davis, 69, Kansas City, MO formerly of Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. He died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Bridgewoods Healthcare Center in Kansas City, MO.

Phillip was born August 1, 1944 in Kansas City, MO the son of Raymond E. and Elaine I. (Hill) Davis.

Phillip grew up in North Lawrence on Elm Street, living the majority of his life in the family home there until moving to Clinton Place Apartments for about 10 years before going to the care facility in Missouri. He worked in his early adult years for the maintenance department at KU until his health failed causing a disability.

He attended Lawrence High School and was a member of the University Community Church (RLDS) Church.

Survivors include; one sister, Marlene C. Thornton and husband Ed, Eagle, ID; and brother, Gary L. Davis, Fresno, CA. He was preceded in death by his father and recently his mother on March 22, 2013.

The family will greet friends from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service Tuesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Phillip R. Davis Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
