Raymond “Ray” J. King

d. February 17, 2023

Ray passed away on February 17, 2023.  He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on June 1, 1937 to Carey King, Sr. and Louise Baer King.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958.

He was employed by the S.S. Kresge Company (Kmart Corporation) in 1959 and retired from the Kmart Distribution Center in Lawrence in 1995.

He married Eileen Ellis on April 24, 1982 in Lawrence, KS.  She survives of the home.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post No. 14 in Lawrence. He enjoyed fishing, camping and golfing.  He was a kind and patient man who treasured his time with family, especially his grandchildren.  He enjoyed telling all kinds of stories especially those about memories of his childhood and his experiences in the Navy.

Other survivors include his brother, Edward King, Fort Wayne, IN., his children, Debra Treesh (Doug), Corunna, IN., Jason King, San Francisco, CA., Linda Edman (Don), Lawrence, KS., his grandchildren, Christopher Treesh (Brandy Deal), Waterloo, IN., Michael Edman, Lawrence, KS., Morgan Edman, Lawrence, KS., Jeff Treesh (Meaghan), Garrett, IN., Jason Treesh, Fort Wayne, IN.,Jessica Treesh, Fort Wayne, IN., and his great grandchildren, Bentley Treesh and Kayden Treesh, Garrett, IN., Awnry Deal and Magdalene Treesh, Fort Wayne, IN.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Raymond Joseph King Jr., a sister, Mary (King) Krause, and his brothers, Alfred King and Carey Benjamin King Jr.

Per Ray’s request, no services will be held.  Memorials may go to The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence sent in care of the mortuary.
