Reada Ann Green died peacefully at home in Lawrence, KS at the age of 77.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Lawrence VFW, 1801 Massachusetts Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Readann is survived by children, Michael (Sandy) of Great Bend, Ks, David Green of Hutchinson, Ks, John (Mandy) of Lawrence, Ks, Henry (Cheryl) of Lawrence, Ks and Bridget (niece)(Robert) of Richardson, Tx. She has one remaining sibling, Jonathan Johnson of Great Bend, Ks. Nine grandchildren; Lindsay Martin, Corey Richards, Larissa Richards, Trae Green, Seth Green, Keara Johnson, Miata Johnson, Briana Johnson and Robert Johnson II, and 4 great grandchildren.

She had a group of family of friends that supported her and she loved them, Sunnye Mannie) Neto of Florida and Susan Fulton, of Lawrence.

She is preceded in death by Percy Richards, (father,) Lottie B. Johnson, (mother) and Elmo H Johnson, Sr, (stepfather). Siblings: Leroy V. Jones, Sr, George Jones, Margaret Jean Johnson, and Elmo Henry Johnson, Jr. Grandparents: George Mitchell(grandfather) and Margret(Willie) Watson.

Readann was born on July 2, 1941 in Hoisington, Ks to Lottie Johnson and Percy Richards. She graduated from Wichita State University in 1995 with a Master’s Degree in Sociology, along with many other degrees. Readann was a professor at both WSU and McPherson College 1991-1996. She was excited about being a on the team at Wellesy College at the Center for Research for Women. During this tenue she was also a Guest Lecturer on issues of Race, Class, and Gender. She was an advocate on change and equal opportunities.

She married Mike Green in April (1959-1968) in Great Bend, Ks. They welcomed four boys into their home and Readann was set about teaching them the way of the world through her wisdom, and life experience.

Readann was an accomplished student. She was a woman who loved to learn different cultures, loved to read, and never stopped sharing her wisdom. Readann was passionate about teaching people and helping women of all different walks of life. If she befriended you, you were a friend for life. You could also find her watching Jeopardy, working crosswords puzzles, reading the newspapers, and sitting her on her porch relaxing. She was always ready for a good discussion on politics, race and religion. She had a wealth of knowledge until the end and full of wit. She marched to the beat of her own drums. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend.
