Richard L. Copp

Funeral services for Richard L. Copp, 76, Lawrence, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS. Richard passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at LMH Hospital.

Richard was born on August 14, 1947, in Lawrence, KS, the son of Dutch and Annie (Holiday) Copp.

Richard enlisted into the Army in 1964 and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany until his honorable discharge in 1968. One year later he met the love of his life, Linda Hodson.  They married in March of 1969.  Richard and Linda were just two months shy of celebrating their 55 ^th wedding anniversary. That marriage brought the birth of Tashana Sue in 1978.  Richard built his home in North Lawrence and lived in that home until his death. Anyone that knew Richard knew that they could find him working and tinkering on cars. His most loved car was his 1957 Chevy Bel air.

Richard was well known to be a plethora of knowledge and wisdom with many things, but cars were his passion. When Richard was not working on cars, he was watching his KU Jayhawks play basketball.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda of Lawrence, KS. Other survivors include his daughter, Tashana (DJ Glenn) Copp, brothers, Larry (Linda) Copp, Guy Dennis Copp, Melvin Copp, sisters, Sandy (Dale) Mock, Linda (Stan) Buckner, grandchildren, Collin Glenn, Cameron (Sarah) Glenn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Marvin Copp, Gary Copp, and sister, Vivian Ryan.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 ~ 8:00 p.m., on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS.
