Richard Morris

A Memorial Gathering for Richard “Rick” Lee Morris, 70, Lawrence,  will be Monday,
July 26, 2010, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  Mr. Morris died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 17, 1940 in Poplar Bluff, MO, the son of James and Wilma Morrison Morris.

He served his country in the US Marines from 1958-1962.  He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for W.A. Dunbar and retired with the Local 101 Operators and Engineers Union.

He was a former member of the Eagles.

He married Delores Zima on October 3, 1966 in Miami, Oklahoma.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his father, James Morris of Oceanside, CA; two daughters, Tammra Pearce of Sparks, NV; Lareeda Hickey and her husband, Alan of Lawrence, KS; one brother, Jim Morris of Oceanside, CA; a brother –in-law Marvin Zima of Lawrence, KS; grandchildren, Bryan Hickey, Erin Hickey, Adam Pearce and Ryan Pearce.

Family suggests memorials in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
