Memorial services for Rickey “Rick” Lee Carr Jr., 39, Lawrence, will be at 1 pm Saturday at Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Carr died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his house.
He was born Nov. 27, 1969, in Perry, Iowa, the son of Rick and Nadene Ballentine Carr.
Rick worked as a painter since 1998 for Martin Logan Ltd. He enjoyed listening to Led Zeppelin, riding four-wheelers, hunting and teaching his son.
He married Julie McLaughlin on May 13, 1989, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include his father, Lorimor, Iowa; his mother and stepfather, Terry Newland, Perry; a son, Marty, of the home; two brothers, Keith, Coon Rapids, Iowa, and Mike, Shell Knob, Mo.; a sister, Alissa Carr, Greeley, Colo.; two grandmothers, Lavonne Carr and Margaret Ballentine, both of Perry, Iowa; father-in-law J.C. Brown and mother-in-law Sandy Walker-Brown, Livonia, Mo.; father-in-law Robert Smotherman, Perry, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Mike McLaughlin, Orlando, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Tina McLaughlin-Smith, Oak Harbor, Wash.
The family suggests memorials to Rick Carr Benefit Fund at U.S. Bank, sent in care of Martin Logan Ltd. or Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
