Robert “Bob” Powell

Memorial Services for Robert “Bob” Powell, 88, will be held at the First Baptist Church on March 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  Bob passed away on Monday March 4 ^th at LMH Hospital.

Bob was born on October 22, 1935 in Lone Elm, Kansas, the son of Harvey and Golda (Wooton) Powell.

He married Lorene Peters on November 20, 1955 in Iola KS and is survived by her.

Bob had a varied career beginning as a school teacher/coach in Wakeeney KS, Co-owner of Schendel Pest Control in Topeka KS and publisher of the Charlotte N.C. Business Journal as well as a successful sales career.  After retiring he spent the last 24 years working (and playing) at Eagle Bend Golf course where he made many friends.

Other survivors include children Tim Powell, son and Terri Powell Rands, daughter both of Kansas City, Grandchildren Shelly Hamilton, Salt Lake UT, Mary Powell, Longmont CO, Monica Powell, Denver CO, Yohan Powell, Kansas City, and two Great Grandchildren.

Bob Loved fishing and canoeing but his first love was golfing, being with his family and many buddies.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to Salvation Army-Beacon of Hope in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13 ^th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
