Graveside funeral services for ROY W.”Bud” MOORE, 83, Lawrence, Kansas will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Silent City Cemetery in De Soto, Kansas. Military Honors by the V.F.W. Post 6654 in of De Soto, Kansas.
Mr. Moore died Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Manor Care in Overland Park, Kansas.
Roy was born March 25, 1926 at Lawrence, Kansas the son of Roy F. and Maude Augusta.
He was a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was self employed as a painter, retiring in 1969.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6654 in De Soto, Kansas.
Survivors include: daughter, Carol McEldowney, Overland Park, Kansas and step-daughter, Anita Arkeketa James, Lawrence, Kansas; one son, Franklin Wayne Mestrezat of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; one sister, Virginia Boyd of Shawnee, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step- daughter, Margaret Williams and two sisters, Naomi Holland and Anna Lee Blackman.
Memorials in his name may be made to the V.F. W. Post 6654 in De Soto and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Monday at the mortuary in Lawrence. A luncheon will follow graveside service at the V.F.W. in De Soto.
