Memorial services for Ruth Emily Cooper, 93, Lawrence will be on Saturday, February 16,
at 1:00 pm at Presbyterian Manor Chapel in Lawrence. Inurnment will be at a later date in Bella Vista, Arkansas. She died January 25, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Ruth was born on October 28, 1919 in Fowler, Kansas, the daughter of Sheldon and
Emily (Gridley) Frey. She married Wyatt W. Cooper on June 6, 1938. He died in February,
1991.  Ruth married Charles Haywood on June 6, 1992. He died in July, 1996. Ruth
and Wyatt lived in Hiawatha, Kansas for 18 years before moving to Lawrence in 1964.
Ruth worked at Bell Music Store and Kennedy School before retiring to Bella Vista,
Arkansas.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Gwen Miller (son-in-law Jack, deceased), Indianapolis, Indiana;  Patty Hill (Tim), Lawrence; one son, Terry Cooper, Overland Park; daughter-
in-law Terry Cooper (son David, deceased), Overland Park: son-in-law David Scraper
(daughter Sandy, deceased), Wichita; stepson Don Haywood, Pagosa Springs, Colorado;
one sister, Esther Graham, Bel Aire, Kansas; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and
6 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Frey and
Wayne Frey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to The Good Samaritan Fund
(Presbyterian Manor) or the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Hospice Care and may be sent
to Warren-McElwain Mortuary
