Ruth was born on August 30, 1919 in Clearfield, KS the daughter of Roy and Alma (Hausman) Breithaupt.
She graduated from Eudora High School in 1937. She attended Lawrence Business College. She worked as secretary at L.V. Cadick Chevrolet Co. in Culver City, Califonia and worked three years for Patty Mossman Construction Co. in the estimating dept. She worked at Hercules from 1953 – 1957. She and her husband, Howard, along with Jack & Arleta (Wilson) Howard owned and operated Clover Leaf Farm Grocery Store from 1945 – 1953. She and her husband, Howard owned and operated Howard Super Saver grocery from 1960 – 1980.
She was a member of the Eudora United Methodist Church; Martha Circle; Charter member of the Eudora Pinochle Club; AARP in Lawrence; Eudora Historical Society; Jolly Dozen Club and Eudora PTA.
She married Howard E. Wilson on October 28, 1939 in Linwood, KS. He preceded her in death August 23, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eileen (Breithaupt) Vincent; a grandson, Geoffrey K. Wilson and great-granddaughter, Kimberly Stanley.
Survivors include one daughter, Deanne B. Benton, (Richard) Lawrence, KS; two sons, James E. Wilson, (Marilyn) Eudora, KS, Gary L. Wilson, (Stephanie) Overland Park, KS; five grandchildren, Lynn, Lori, Dorinda, Justin and Sarah; and eight great-grandchildren, Andy, Jimmy, Ashley, Lora, Michael, Drew, Joey, Josh, and Audreana.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Eudora United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
